I am sure you are all aware of this wonder,
but i thought i would post it anyway

The Millennium Link Project restored the Lowland canals city to city and firth to firth. Not only are the two canals restored but the link at Falkirk, the Falkirk Wheel, has become one of Scotland’s, if not the UK’s, prime visitor attraction. The original eleven locks could not be reinstated so instead the world’s first rotating boatlift has been built, 115ft high equivalent to eight double decker buses stacked on top of each other.

I've been there several times - we used to go along when it was being built to wonder what the heck it was. LOL

My kids have been on the ride along the canal that goes up/down the Wheel, and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Did you know that when they were dredging the locals canals, some houses next to them started collapsing? They had to repair the houses before they could continue the canal reinstatements.

Years ago before the war my grandfather used to play the piano and sing on the Gypsy Queen that used to sail up and down the canal

I've seen this several times on various programmes on the Discovery Channel. Never ceases to fascinate me.

  down south it is all about the london eye. i bet if you showed the pictures in the city and asked them to say where it was they would all say somewhere abroad!!
