Been in storms like these, not a good thing to see a wall of sand coming at you knowing your going to be stuck there for a while.
Windscreens headlights go matt if your don't turn your pickup around so the backend faces the wing your radiator gets trashed, you can re-paint the backend.

I once flew through one of those with my dad. We had no idea if we were even flying level, let alone exactly where we were or if we were about to hit a mountain. We finally got our bearings by finding a dirt road which had an advertising hoarding he recognized and followed the adverts to the airfield. When the whole world goes brown.

Very glad we don't live near to anywhere that gets these!! Frightening...a wall of sand and wind...can't think of anything worse...apart from tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, avalanches...LOL...bloody hell some parts of this world are really dangerous areas to live in...great big hugs...XXX

I was brought up in Australia, and we used to get storms like that.
I can remember walking home from school and glancing behind me to see one rolling along catching me up slowly.
I ran like hell to get home, started yelling to Mum when I wasn't even in the garden yet "Sand coming! Sand storm! Sand coming!" and seeing all the neighbours slammings doors and windows as I passed.
Then sitting in the house as everything outside disappeared and all you could see was the sand and all you could hear was the wind.
Then it was over, and we would have to go out and dig out the sand drifts-
must have been both frightening and exciting at the same time

I've always been a fan of extreme weather. If I lived in the States I would probably be a storm chaser. I love nothing better than being outside in a major thunder storm.
