Photo or Painting?

Do you find any special reason why these 3 guys are standing beside a photo? No? The fact is that this photo is no photo. Confused? Yes this is actually a painting! This is a photo realistic painting of Tica by Dru Blair. Check out the various stages of painting & a close up

 It probably took a total of around 65-75 hours to complete. The small images are step by step photographs taken during the painting process

I think this is either a hoax or an exercise in stupidity.
The various stages look like photoshop used badly.
I would not trust these three guys to paint my front door !

i am just a layman and know nothing but there are quite a few people doing Photorealistic painting are they all a con?? this is from another artist

and this is by another are they all fakes?

I can't see the point of doing it...if it looks exactly like a photograph, why not have a photo? Klimt did perfect portraits amongst his earlier works, but the surroundings of the portrait made it clear it was a work of art...these just look like photos...not my cup of tea I'm afraid...GBHs...

There was a bloke, back in the late 70's here in the USA, that used to do that with horse portraits--until you got right up to the painting to see the (almost invisible) brush-strokes, you'd swear you were looking at a photo--it's not a type of painting just anyone can do.

whew!

if they were using water colours to paint i would have gone mad..

i paint and never could get that "realistic" skin look

I have a photo' of myself and my baby, taken in 1981, it is printed on canvas, and looks like a piece of artwork, so it seems that the reverse is happening now, people doing art to look like a photo! The circle turns again eh?

It's true, why go through all the trouble of painting for hours and hours when the result looks exactly like a photo.

But I still admire his skills. I couldn't do it!
